How to Attract and Grow An Audience Organically - 2025

Growing an audience on social media is likely one of the biggest struggles for brands. If you aren’t patient and don’t understand the tactics behind growth, you might find yourself throwing in the towel.

Many brands are very successful in growing their audience, but it doesn't mean they didn't put in the work.

Yes, there are those small percentage of business owners that have grown their brand quickly from growing viral, but that should never be your aim.

If you don't already know, I am mostly growing my audience on LinkedIn because that is where I'm comfortable and where my ideal buyer hangs out.

Here, I'm going to share how you can grow your audience on social media organically:

Connect with those who fit your buyer's persona.

What do they do? Are they business owners, CEOs, HR professionals, etc.?

Once you figure that out, utilize the search box to type in the job title and go from there.

Review individual profiles and see if you'd be interested in connecting further with that person and (most importantly) if they have pain points you can help with.

The main goal is to provide expertise for your ideal client so they can see your brand as valuable and that it's worth their time checking out.

Set aside time once per week or daily to do this; you can spend 15 minutes a day or 60 minutes a week - whatever works for you.

Research who your current connections are connected with.

This tip can help you grow your brand exponentially.

Many platforms, such as LinkedIn, will automatically show you who has a similar background allowing you to check out those profiles, but you can also go specifically to a person's followers/connections and see who they're connected with.

People are typically connected with people that are in their niche.

Search for what content your ideal buyer has engaged with online and create content centered around that.

You'll notice on LinkedIn that you can see what your connection has commented on or liked.

Dive in further on the post to see if that post fits their pain point. If they commented, what did they comment on?

This is the time for you to stand out and create similar content. But, the key is to make the content even more powerful than that post they commented on.

What if your target buyer has a question in the comments? How can you help? Take a few minutes to comment and provide your expert advice.

Search hashtags in your niche to see what you're competitors are sharing their expertise on.

I'm all for hashtags. If you use them correctly, they are like goldmines for growing your audience.

Here are three ways you can use hashtags effectively:

1 First, look for a hashtag that is relevant to your brand. Type in the hashtag and see how many followers it has.

2. Try to steer away from hashtags that have minimal followers; you want to focus on followers that have thousands to hundreds of thousands.

Click on those hashtags and search for your ideal buyer there.
3. Search hashtags that your target client is using in their content to search for other connections that you would fit in your audience.

What about your competitors? Of course, you can search their hashtags and look for content there and see who is liking the posts for that hashtag.

Be sure to use your hashtags according to the platform, and don't overdo it.

Too many hashtags can come off as spammy, and not using any at all can set you back from being seen organically. Each platform has their own “rules” for how many hashtags fit the norm.

Network locally.

Networking on social media is essential, but don't forget about the impact you can make by attending local networking events.

You want to be known in the community.

When you introduce yourself, tell someone where to connect further with you. Usually, they will do it right then and there, or be sure to put it on your business card.

When I went to my first small networking event, I was able to make a few connections on LinkedIn and Instagram within an hour.

Going to networking events a few times a month can do so much for your business. Once you connect with someone, you might find that they want to connect further outside of the event.

Eventually, that further connection can connect you with more people, and so forth.

Hello, growth!

Stay engaged.

While you may have heard this before, I can't express it enough.

Engagement is a critical aspect of growing your audience on social media organically.

Your goal is to build a community. You can't do that if you're not engaging.

While it does take time out of your day, these are all a part of growing a brand. Another tip is to set aside time to go on other people's posts and engage. Many people will take the time to go back and look at your profile.

If you're consistently coming back and posting, you may see that they also start to engage more with your content.

Also, be sure to not only engage on other posts but make sure you respond to anyone engaging with your content.

According to Sprout Social, “As customers continue to flock to social for their support needs, it will take more effort to maintain speedy social media response times. Be careful—if you fail to offer timely resolutions on social, almost half of consumers may unfollow your brand.”

Even further, their trends show that show that over a third will talk about the experience with their family and friend.

Your audience wants to feel seen and heard, so when you take the time to respond, they know there is a person behind the brand.

That means you have to keep making a human connection constantly.

If you're struggling to grow your audience organically, these are the ways to go about it strategically.

Create a planner so you can schedule a time to sit down and do these things to make sure you're consistently staying present in front of your audience.

Treat them as you would want to be treated as a customer. Engage, support, and build.

With these steps and patience, you will be in a good place in no time.

Hope you found these tips useful.

XOXO,

Sharonda
